we just got a plug in chandelier light fixture for our new nursery and I want to put it up, but the light fixture that is currently there is wired into the celing.
I want to convert the new plug in chandelier so it can just be wired as usual (like the one in place now). Can I just cut the plug cord and use the two wires to wire it up? How would I go about doing this? I know how to install ceiling fans and light fixtures, but I have not seen a fixture that plugs in. Can I just cut and go? Whats the procedure here?

I am supplying the tub and fans, the quote is for labor and misc. materials and removal of old fixtures etc. I understand the cost varies depending on the location. I am in New York state (not New York city) if that helps.

A group of us were discussing certain issues and someone brought up the idea that the KKK and other hate groups "avoid" things that African Americans invented because their hatred was just that profound. It’s going to come as a big surprise to those same hate groups to know that African Americans invented the traffic light, the pencil sharpener, fountain pen, toilet, bike frame, air conditioner, electro light battery, modern day fuse, gas mask, air brakes for buses, rotary engine, and automatic transmission on cars. If what was discussed is true and they DO boycott African American contributions they will need to give up a lot of things that make their lives comfortable and walk everywhere they want to go or drive a stick shift automobile. And what about them burning the cross as a symbol and using Jesus in their hate messages. Jeshuah IS a Jewish man of Middle Eastern descent with skin of bronze and hair of wool. There really is no room for hate groups in today’s society.
What are some good websites and publications that will help me with the remodeling of a small bathroom?
I think I am fairly handy; however, I lack real experience and formal training with plumbing. I’ve fixed leaky faucets and I’ve replaced a water heater, and that’s the extent of my plumbing experience. In light of those considerations, should I just hire someone to remodel my bathroom? Are bathroom remodels generally ‘difficult’?

The overhead light in my living room stopped working. I’ve tried all I can think of to fix it and would REALLY rather not have to call an electrician. I am fairly competant with home repairs and such, but I’m totally stumped.
So far I’ve tried changing the light fixture and changing the light switch. The breaker also controls the light in my kitchen, so I’m pretty sure it isn’t the breaker or anything.
My attic is tiny…it goes over the LR light, but there’s maybe 1′-2′ clearance, so it’ll be pretty hard to get up there, but I can if that’s what it takes…

the light in my bathroom started flickering and then went out. i tested for current to see if i got 110/120. no luck it had no power. its the light, one outlet, and the outlet in my front bathroom only. where do i start looking for the problem?
