Hello
I was trying to put a new light fixture today. My fixture has one black, two white and one green/yellow wires. Wires coming from the ceiling are two white, two black, two red and one blue. White, black and red ones are wired together. I wired my two whites to whites, black to blacks and green/yellow to the blue. Light stayed on in switched off position, but when I turned on the switch, it shorted.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Can i randomly pick up a light weight and work towards toning and sculpting my arms without keeping track of all the weight im lifting and detail, lets say week one i pick up 10 pounds and do 30 bicep reps, week 2 i do 5 pounds and 50 bicep reps, then the third week i do 15 pounds and do 25 bicep reps, thats just an example, pretty simple question, can i sculpt and tone my muscles without keeping track of the weights, just picking up the weights to feel the burn
I am remodeling my kitchen and 2 bathrooms. The lowdown: Kitchen…everything is being replaced–appliances, cabinets. The wood floor is being refinished. Knocking out two walls, putting a breakfast bar in place of one of those walls. New home runs to the kitchen, and adding recessed lighting. Bathrooms: everything replaced except tubs and base cabinets. In all, over 350 sq ft of tile will be installed. I am removing two closets and a room of paneling. All walls will be prepped for me to paint. Lots of other minor stuff like installing new light fixtures, bathroom fixtures, toilets, sinks, fans, replacing trim and molding, etc.
The cost: 9000 labor; I buy materials, which I’m working on getting for under 6000, including full-wood kitchen cabinets.
This is a fully-insured, licensed contractor of which I’ve known for a while. Trust his work.
How does this estimate sound to you? I thought it sounded reasonable but want to make sure I’m thinking clearly.
I am trying to replace the old fluorescent lights in the kitchen with pendant lights. After removing one of the fluorescent lights, I realized that there is a metal stud (maybe 1/8" thick) where I need to drill a hole to mount the light. I’m assuming the stud is aluminum, but I haven’t ben able to make a dent in it a titanium drill bit for metal or self-drilling sheet metal screws, using my 18V electric drill. Any advice on how to drill through the metal, or how to mount the light by strapping something around the stud? Will gladly provide additional information.
I can feel the other side of the stud though the old hole in the ceiling, so there are no wires. Pushed as hard as I can and it does nothing, so pushing harder is out. the light needs to go where it is, moving it is not an option. The building was biult in the 30’s but remodeled in the 80’s, if that is helpful.

trying to light a 6" fluorescent bulb for a lamp, but the design does not allow for the typical box that the bulb sits in. is there some way to set it up so that the bulb would be exposed 360 degrees? Thanks!
Which upgrades are worth waiting on & doing yourself, cheaper, after the house is built? And which upgrades are worth going ahead and having the builder do & include in the price? Some specific ones in question would be:
kitchen counter tops*
outside down lighting*
stone on a small amount of the exterior of the house*
indoor recessed or canned lighting*
sod & sprinkler system*
water heater- upgrade in gallon size*
crown moulding*
All tips greatly appreciated!!
