I have an apartment with an older mirrored vanity in the bathroom. On the top is where there are the bulbs but in front of those bulbs use to be a long rectangular plastic lens to dampen the light so it wasnt like lookin into the sun every time you looked into the mirror. That "light shade plastic fixture"thingy got broken in half,i was wondering what it is called and/or if i can get a link to buy a new one

I recently began working at a new job as a bathroom designer at a design firm, I am also a salesperson because I have to sell my design and the products I propose. I recently met with a client who seemed to like the design and at the end when I asked him if we were on the right track, he said we are the most expensive so far. Well a few days later (today) he sends me an email asking me for the manufacturer and model # of all of the lighting, vanities, plumbing fixtures, etc. What do you think he is going to do with this information? My boss said we have to give it to him or he will be offended. I am worried he is going to take my hard work and give my choices to someone else to do. My boss thinks he is going to price shop us and told me to make him aware of the fact that not only is he buying the products, he is buying a well thought out design and a full service provided to him because we warranty our stuff for one year after installation and use only licenses plumbers and contractors. Could any experiences salespeople or designers give me any suggestions on how to handle a situation like this? I have only been doing this for about a month, since I graduated with my degree in design.

Hi, I have a house built in 1952. Our bathroom had two light fixtures (one on either side of the medicine cabinet) wired together and connected to a switch. I wanted to replace the first light (from the switch) with an outlet. The only wires connected to it are one black and one white. I can add a ground to it as the box is grounded. My questions are:

1. Can I do this, and is it as simple as just connecting white and black to silver and gold screws on the outlet?
2. I would really like to add a GFCI outlet, but I am unsure of the wiring for this.

here’s a PIC of the color. It doesn’t seem like it, but there really is good lighting in the room all day. WOuld it be best to stay all white against the pink, or go with slate and a dark brown vanity and make it all colors that blend with the pink? thanks for nay help!!

I just got my first vanity only a few months ago because I have really started to get into makeup and I simply love the look of a vanity.

I absolutely love the one i purchased but in order to do my makeup I need good lighting.
My vanity is up againts a wall with no lights around it (right now i have my night stand lamp on it so i can see) but I really need some sort of lighting fixture that isnt tacky or ugly.

My problem is that I do not have the option of putting a fixture in the wall permanently… I was wondering if there are lighting attachments that look like mounted ones but where there is a cord and it just hangs down so i could run it down the back of my vanity since there is a plug in right underneath on the wall.

When I was growing up significant discourse was considered to be the central focal point of the cultivated life. It was what the dinner table was all about. Later this became the seminar table. Still later it became the counsel table. Significant discouse is purposive, it is concise, it is intending real conduct that actually does occur and that leads to outcomes that make a difference. It is not like rhetoric of no consequence or babble of no meaning. It is more like strategic planning and orders of battle.

In my little town, people are highly suspicious of speech already. To them, speech is mere vanity. For them life is about hands to work hearts to God. They are functionally aphasic by choice. It’s like living in a Fransciscan monestary. They do work very hard. They have no time for talk. They hate prattle, or useless speech that benefits nobody. They are not big on improv either, I can tell you from painful experience. They are mainly agrarian people — farmers, builders, lawn care people, home repair people. They don’t want shilly-shally, they want to "git er done". Most of their talking they do at Lowes and Home Depot. It’s about pipes and electrical fixtures.

Me, speech is my abode. My only habitat. It’s my little part of the tree. It guess it’s where the chattering class lives. So, I am sensitive when somebody devalues speech to the point where it becomes an object of general ridicule. Obama has done that. He’s given speech a bad name. He’s made "significant discourse" and object of contumely. By making 8362 speeches with zero outcomes he has become a laughingstock himself, but more importantly he has left little room in his wake for anybody to speak in a way that would be deemed significant. It’s a scorched earth effect, like after a meteor hits.

If speech goes, what happens to Western culture? What happens to me? Quo vadis?

Well it started out being just the tv turning off and on, and know it’s changing channels. The other night a light bulb fell from the fixture in the bathroom a I might add the other half is still in the socket. Well when it hit the vanity I thought oh my god. So about 15 min later I went to look and it was in the sink it was unbroken. We hear very strange noises at night. We feel as we are being watched. It like’s clothes for some reason alot of my clothes will come up missing for a couple of week’s with no sign of them anywhere then one day they will just turn up. It like’s to fold laundry. Aslo another weird thing is that my dog’s will just look at the staircase late at night and just bark and bark non stop. So Im really not sure It seem’s as though it likes to stay upstairs nothing much has happened downstairs. My niece and I have both seen this lady at night she likes to come and stand by the bed. Aslo Im wanting to know do they talk?? Are they mean?? Will they hurt me or my family
