Hi, I have a wall sconce light, and the glass dome? globe? Whatever you want to call it that surrounds the light bulb is a sandy textured speckled outside. It has yellowed with age (got from a garage sale) and I want to whiten it. I tried bleach and that did nothing. How about a glass paint or something that I could put on and then wipe off. Any ideas? What should I use???????????? thanks

My daughter just bought a house. She bought some new wall sconces that have tarnished copper. I thought of a way to make some cool bar lamps using copper tubing and wire. However, she would want them "tarnished" to match the wall sconces.
Does anyone know of a way to quickly tarnish copper?
Thanks for any advice.

The house is a brick ranch built in 1956, with plaster walls, in the detroit suburbs. In the LR there is an entire wall of mirrors, three 8′ by 4′ panels abutted to each other. This wall backs to the attached garage. One of the sconces on this wall no longer works (they are ugly besides, and placed wrong). I have thought about painting the living room wall or covering it with fabric, but I really need to get to the electrical, and on the garage side it is finished also- all built in storage. Also, in all the bathrooms, are large (at least 4′ x 6′) mirrors mounted to the walls, again with cutouts for seriously outdated lighting. My husband is concerned about what is behind them and that I will create a bigger mess by removing the mirrors.
How to safely remove the mirrors? Based on age, type and location of house what is likely to be behind them? Is this a DIY project? If not, what kind of expert do I call in?

So I bought this:http://www.amazon.com/Wrought-Iron-Swirl-5-Candle-Sconce/dp/B00023AX34/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1219191570&sr=1-2
But it didn’t come with hardware or nails or anything. So I need help. How do I hang it up without too badly damaging the wall while still keeping it secure? It’s incredibly heavy wrought iron, and I just want to make sure it actually stays in the wall and doesn’t come ripping out, with half the wall with it. Thanks!

I’m looking for outdoor wall mount sconce style lights for an outside bar. All the cool ones are either indoor only or outdoor and 0 each. Is it possible to fix up the wiring/bulb receptacle so I can use an indoor light outdoors? How?
Will be low voltage lighting-mood lighting if you will, no 100 watt bulbs getting wired up
im trying to cover wall sconces in a residents hall and need proof that it is not a fire hazard

I want to put two wall lamps (sconce) on either side of my vanity. I have limited accessibility to outlets.
How do you install wall lights (is it hard)? Do they make battery powered lamps to mount on the wall?
Any advice or links you can attach would be great…thanks!
Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do here…besides running extension cords! It’s so tacky!
My old plug-in wall sconce just gave out on me. I have notived that most of the nicer looking sconces are all hardwired. Can I purchase a hardwired one and still have it work off of the light switch, and just change the outlet back to normal (rather than being turned on and off buy the switch)?
