The BX cable runs to a light over the mirror. The sconces will be to the right and left of the mirror. So I can shift the existing BX cable to one side…then I need to run new wire to the other side. If I have to use a metal old work box, then does the new wire coming out of the box have to be BX also?

I have no clue what it is asking me to do!!!!

I purchased a metal wall sconce today. the label says "Hollingsworth Galleries Costa Mesa,CA". I’ve looked online and cannot find much info about their products or company. I’d like to know how much this sconce is worth, but it seems like they are out of business. help!

I have a fairly large space here and I am not sure what to do. Everything is dark/natural colors. I have dark hard wood floors, dark brownish-black seating, light neutral area rug and light wood bookcase, warm brown walls with white trim, and I have a large picture window with burgundy curtains.

I have some bronze colored items(clock, mirror) and some black wrought iron items( curtain rod and sconces with red candles). I have a couple other smaller pieces of furniture that are brown/bronze/black colored. I have a few large empty spaces on walls that I would like to hang something- with more color. Please help me- I have no idea what color I can add – or what type of canvas I should hang to go with everything.

I am a little picky about art work- but I am really drawn to the New York City skyline prints and canvas, and the Paris ones too. I am just not sure how well those would really look with what I have. Please help!!
I would like to use an area to hang a large family photo/collage. I would also like to hang a glass shelf to go with my tv stand that is black with glass shelves…. Maybe put a smaller non-busy print of NYC on it….I don’t know!

At a loss here and need help -
I’m not a "shopper" so I don’t know where to go or what to look for
I have a bedroom that I painted terra cotta color ( all over – even the ceiling) as I love the southwestern style
My problem is…. I have no curtains up and not sure what kind, color to get
what color would you put in a room with all the walls this color??
my sister suggested a dark chocolate brown but I feel its too dark and won’t go with rest of room.
I have a lamp on bureau that is black iron scrolled, as it matches my bed frame with has the black iron scroll in the design…… hubby just put up sconces above the bed and yes, they have the black scroll to them as well…
the lamp shade on the lamp on bureau, I forgot to mention is a gold color ( kinda looks like leather but its not – just the design of the shade)

Would you put up gold curtains to tie it all in together or go with a totally different color???
I would post the picture, but not savy on how to do that.
Any ideas/ suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I’m helping a friend do some decorating in her new apartment. Her dining room is dark blue with white trim. We’ve discussed what can be done about brightening it up. I’ve painted houses professionally, so I know what repainting would take.

We decided to try to avoid repainting and find other ways to bring light to it. Thankfully she has a nice dining set made of light-colored wood, and there is a rather large built-in hutch on one wall, which is white. I’m thinking of adding some ambient lighting to that.

Now, the current "artwork" is dark, and I’ve told her we need to change that to help balance the room. She has a stunning painting of horses that I think would look really good in there, and I’m going to paint her something, too. (most likely another one with horses). However, I think we need at least 3-4 more things that would compliment the horses – without going overboard with them.

I realize horses in a dining room sounds a bit… well, different, but there aren’t many other options and she lives on a fixed income. Plus, as I said, the one painting she has is really quite beautiful.

I’ve thought of adding sconces, but I could use some ideas for maybe 2 other paintings.

hi re doing bathroom on a budget.have good vanity with lots of storage.just needs fresh coat of paint and pulls.the top is a beige travertine look.The wall will be a color called tranquility by benjamin moore which is a soft pale blue-teal.sink is white with chrome hardware and chrome mirror with sconces.Should I paint the vanity a creamy white or would a dark chocolate look best.want a spa feel.Any suggestions on what color flooring.I have wood althrough the house.Should I carry that into the bathroom or put down a tile.

Maybe it’s a stupid question, but I’m writing and I can’t think of the term for the metal piece that you can slip the handle of a torch into so it stays upright against the wall. "Sconce" is the only term that comes to mind, but I think that’s only used for decoration.

we have a finished basement that is not used..i would like to turn the room into a movie house..on a budget.i plan on reupholstering our huge sofa in a heavy red with the pillows and buying several movie chairs..possibly black..i want to use the room also for reading etc..half the wall is paneled in a duty rose and upper wall pink….of course this has to be changed..i want the 50s movie Colors but do not want sore eyes when using the room for reading or computer use.i picked out nice vintage sconces and i think it will turn out nice..if being selective..any suggestions on on the walls..i would like red like the movie houses from the 50s but…i want something easy on the eyes when not watching videos..i picked out vintage movie posters for the walls and will eventually sound proof the walls please advise..this is my winter project

Hovering above her is a winged angel holding a crown of thorns. On the wall is a picture or sconce showing Mary which has a very thin and lit candle. There appears to be a book on the table. Is there a way to scan in the picture and post it here?
When I say "holding crucified Jesus" I mean that she is holding a very long and thin crucifix. The crucifix is about as long as half the size of her body. There is a halo of light around Jesus’ head on the crucifix and also around the saint/nun’s head and the angel’s head
