Maybe it’s a stupid question, but I’m writing and I can’t think of the term for the metal piece that you can slip the handle of a torch into so it stays upright against the wall. "Sconce" is the only term that comes to mind, but I think that’s only used for decoration.

we have a finished basement that is not used..i would like to turn the room into a movie house..on a budget.i plan on reupholstering our huge sofa in a heavy red with the pillows and buying several movie chairs..possibly black..i want to use the room also for reading etc..half the wall is paneled in a duty rose and upper wall pink….of course this has to be changed..i want the 50s movie Colors but do not want sore eyes when using the room for reading or computer use.i picked out nice vintage sconces and i think it will turn out nice..if being selective..any suggestions on on the walls..i would like red like the movie houses from the 50s but…i want something easy on the eyes when not watching videos..i picked out vintage movie posters for the walls and will eventually sound proof the walls please advise..this is my winter project

When I say "holding crucified Jesus" I mean that she is holding a very long and thin crucifix. The crucifix is about as long as half the size of her body. There is a halo of light around Jesus’ head on the crucifix and also around the saint/nun’s head and the angel’s head

I just moved into my new home, and I’m having trouble using my existing furniture with the way I would like to decorate the rest of my home. I am a very artistic person, and I like many different styles, but overall I’d like to try to stick with modern, sleek, and eclectic (I think eclectic is the word I’m looking for!)lol.

I’m having trouble bringing my two main areas of my house together so it flows. There is a main seperation wall in the middle of the home seperating the front of the home (foyer and baby’s play area/living room) with the back of the home (family room, kitchen, and nook). Below is a picture of the (boring) seperation wall (that has so much potential to have a "wow" factor)–

I’m trying to do something really neat with this wall. Something inexpensive (hopefully) that you don’t see in everyone else’s homes…something artistic. I’ve thought of either doing crown molding around the borders of the squares to make them look like frames–maybe even different colored frames per each side of the wall. OR…I’ve thought of mosaic tiling the inner parts of the squares, but this might be expensive. I’ve also thought of mosaic tiling the tops and bottoms of the inners of the squares, and maybe putting candle sconces on the inners of the sides of the squares (am I confusing you yet??lol). I have so many ideas, but the problem is—one room is kind of warm decor, while the other is cooler–pictures are below to show which rooms I’m attempting to tie together.

I’m hoping someone can help me figure out how I can tie these rooms together, and which colors should be used…and a really neat idea for the squares in the walls…Thanks!!!! =)

They were a striking couple. The woman had sharp, delicate features and bright green eyes. The man was tall and lean with a thin white scar hanging neatly on his cheek.
They were authors, respected in their own right, and quickly becoming so as a team. They were CC Bella.
“I want you to marry me,” the man said, his voice low.
The woman dragged her eyes away from his and looked down at the table. She began playing with her napkin, tracing its motif with her fingernail.
She looked at him. “Why, so you can have me committed?”
The color drained from his face and his dark eyes suddenly glittered. “You wound,” he said softly. “You really do.”
They were in a local bar. a dark place with craggy ceilings, rutted walls and black furninshings. Candles in iron sconces provided safe passage.
She wadded up her napkin. “You wish” she hissed, stood up and walked away from him.
The place had become crowded but she determinedly made her way toward the exit, trying to think of where she could go. Not home, for he would follow, maybe not right away, but eventually. Probably after a few more drinks….
She was almost to the door, almost out of there.
People were dancing.
A waitress almost bumped into her.
Shadows bobbed along the wall, darted and reached.
Conversation erupted. She recognized a face.
Caught in the flare of candlelight.
She stopped, stared, thought she must have been mistaken and then from behind her someone said, “Whore”, right into her ear.
She whirled around, but there was only the throng.
Shadows.
Candlelight.
She felt spooked. She had to get out of there, but when she reached the door a hand caught her arm. She gasped and looked up.
Constantine.
Somehow he had arrived there before her. “We’re going home” he announced, pushed open the door and pulled her out of the bar. ~

I have a wall lamp that I purchased from a garage sale that looks like a sconce. My problem is that
the glass shade has a sandy-gritty white finish that has yellowed. I tried bleach, but that did nothing. I am wondering whether I could use some sort of glass paint or spray. Maybe put it on and wipe it off. Can anyone come up with a solution for me? Hope so, thanks

i want my apartments bedroom to look really romantic yet Contemporary..what color bedsheets should i use? should i add some more color to the walls to add a dramatic look like adding a sandy golden color stripe on the wall where my king size bed is placed or should i combine whites with this light soft blue which i have on my walls…and the door is brown in color with white molding i know that’s bit bizarre…but i really need some tips…shall i put a mirror on the wall where the bed is and some sconces too…i really dint know how to pull everything together…i M really confused NEED SOME SERIOUS ADVICE…PICS CAN HELP..

I would like to wire two wall sconces on either side of my fireplace. I was planning on continuing the electrical circuit from a wall outlet located near the fireplace and including an inline switch. The outlet is on the left side of the fireplace so I was planning on running the wire 6 feet strait up from the outlet, over three feet, installing a new electrical box and mounting the sconce. The question I have is, how can I run the wire to the other sconce on the right side of the fireplace. Can I run the wire in the wall in front of the fireplace? Also is there any electrical codes that require switches to be a certain height off the floor? I live in southern California.

This was strange, because I don’t remember ever dreaming about fire before. I was looking at myself in the dream, I am in some structure, and I say structure, because I’m not sure what it is exactly, I think it might have been a house, but I can’t even be sure because I don’t see anything in there to give me any indication of what this place is. The place looks like something set in a period long ago, and I think its made of wood and maybe mud, maybe like adobe? Either way, the place burns fairly quickly and easily. Anyway, I see myself going through the whole place and I’ve got torches, that are lit, and I’m going all throughout, setting them all over into sconces on the walls, and then as they start to ignite and cause the whole structure to burn, I simply and calmly walk out of there. There are two small children outside, waiting for me, and I take their hands and walk away. I calmy set fire to this place and leave, as if not a care in the world….strange??

Any ideas what this means?

I need to find a replacement for 1 of 6 wall sconces from 5 years ago. They are matched with Hunter fans decor but I’m having no luck matching it from websites. Did Hunter fans have a lighting division at one time?
There are no serial numbers or any identification numbers of any kind on the fixture.
