Place your sofa where the living room starts, so as the back of the sofa is facing your dining area. Place a sofa table behind it and do a nice display of vases, picture frames, what ever you like. Both rooms will need to be painted the same in order for it to flow properly. Pick a light neutral color from your sofa and go with that. Art work on your walls can add some brighter colors, if you choose. Go with neutral colored window treatments though. You don’t want your curtains to be the focal point of the room. I hope you enjoy your new townhouse. I’m confident you will make it beautiful and homey!
Have your couch or love seat as the dividing area, I love that look we can’t do it here its to small
If you are trying to make a large room have dual functions it is best to make sure that your themes are similar, but that you use large pieces to separate the two rooms. if you plan on having a television in you living room I would suggest purchasing an television armoire so that way when you are trying to have a dinner party in your dining room you can hide you television. Also, I personally feel that armoires in general are a classic piece of furniture that creates a lot of dynamic to a home. I know armoires aren’t cheap, i have had a lot of luck looking online for armoires and other pivotal furniture pieces. Hope this helps!!
