How do i make my room modern? without buying to much?

my room is is a pretty good size. I am on the upstairs level. it has a staircase you can see. then it opens up into a bigger space. then a corner (which has two decent size windows looking into our backyard) and my bed is there. My bed sheet is this color.

it is only the color not the spread.
then once you walk out there is a smaller space where my desk is. (then my little brothers room)
so basically my room is very big.

Ok so what are some ideas?
PLEASE help!!
P.S my walls are white! blah! and my carpet is a light light blue!

First off you need to think about changing the wall color to a warmer tone. The white on your walls will absorb any and all color up put in your room and you will find your self adding more and more color just to make it comfortable. So first change the walls to a soft beige or yellow or anything that is going to set the tone and backdrop for your room. As for modern, the shade of lavender you chose is pretty but is not a common color for modern design. You can add some silver, platinum and crisp whites to bring in a more modern feel onto you bed and in your decor. A good and inexpensive place to look is http://www.IKEA.com They have a very european modern style. Most of there stuff is extremely affordable. We have a store called HomeGoods which is a TJMaxx company. The have wonderful inexpensive decor for the home.

Good Luck and keep your receipts! I often times will buy things that are a maybe at the store and find them to either be a perfect fit or a total bust. Return it if you don’t like it :)
