I have a slightly tacky pair of light rinse denim that I want to update to a modern dark rinse. What color and brand should I use to get the right look? I heard that the "denim blue" colors sometimes look strange, and that I should use a different kind of blue dye. Indigo, denim blue, dark navy, … what colors and brands have worked for you? Any tips? Also, does anyone know where I can see a picture of light rinse jeans that have been home dyed to dark blue?

Try a dark navy. Set the washer to hot and add some salt to the water to help the dye set. Let it agitate for a while and then stop the washer for 30 minutes and start the washer at the beginning again. When it’s gone through the rinse cycle run it agian through the rinse cycle adding 1/2 cup of vinegar. Place in dryer and your color should be good.
