How would I go about making my own candle sconces?

I am wanting a bunch of candle sconces or ways to hang candles up on my walls, but I don’t want to have to pay a bunch for them. Also, I am big on re-purposing things so making sconces out of other items would be great however I need some help with ideas. Anyone know of ways to make candle sconces?

You could use empty tins or cans by taking the labels off and punching holes in with a nail and hammer.
Draw a design on them first and punch in the holes.
Fill the cans with sand and cover it with something to keep the sand in place, like a plastic lid of some sort, before you punch the holes.
It looks great on the wall or even just standing. You can use all sorts of can sizes.
Good luck….☺☺☺

Scorpio has the right idea but once you start punching holes in it the sand starts coming out the holes. We used to use wax. Melt the wax and pour it in. When you are finished heat up the can and remove the wax. The other things you need are a pair of tin snips (you cut the top and bottom off a can and then split it to form a reflector), a soldering iron, flux and solder (to attach a wire from the can to the reflector), pliers to bend over edges, etc. drill (need a hole to hang it up).

Another method is to cut your can in half and solder it directly to the reflector.

Use your imagination and have fun!

Good answer. Go to http://www.hgtv.com and search "candle sconces". They will have lots of ideas, too.
