Because everytime I touch it I get a nasty little shock, or when I touch the light switch. It hurts too, it like f—-ing door.

Is there anything I can do to stop getting shocked.
can’t its a college dorm

Use a dryer sheet and a rubber band cover the knob with the sheet and use the rubbber band to hold it on.

Is your doorknob metal? Electricity passes through metal. When you have to open the bathroom door or turn on the light, wear plastic gloves so the electricity can’t pass through your body.
I used to get shocked when I touched the lightswitch outside my house. It hurt really bad :)

put a circle of duct tape around it and only touch that.

You have a high build up of static in your body.

Wear gloves to touch the doorknob or since you can’t replace the doorknob wrap cloth around the edges.

Also, try to cut copper from your diet and stay out of lightening storms and stay away from wool carpets or socks.

its probably static because of the winter weather. Try putting containers of water out near the heat source to put some moisture in the air. try drinking more water also, keeping your body hydrated will help lessen the static shock.

You can jump and open it. Usually a current must be grounded for it to discharge.

Alternatively YOU CAN LEAVE THE FRICKIN DOOR OPEN!

hehe

You have a serious electrical problem, sounds like the ground wire isn’t connected properly. I got a nasty shock in our old house when I went to flip on the fan while standing in the shower (iron tub too!). My father checked it out and the ground wire was not connected. Report it to someone in charge of housing and put it in writing! If it’s a hazard (and getting shocked like that IS a hazard), they have to take care of it unless they want a lawsuit. No one wants to mess around with faulty electrical wiring, especially in a bathroom. It does NOT sound like your typical static shock if it happens every time.

it like a holtel room carpet thouth out . put carpet clean down to help you not to shock ,or wear rebber shoe

Metal door on a masonry wall, tile floor?
Most likely not static if you get "bit" while you hold onto the knob
Report it to maintenance…might be a ground fault somewhere & it could be dangerous.

face your fears .
if you don’t nip it in the bud your fears will grow like a fungess
