I’m building a new home and need to know if I can mix the metals used for the door handles, light fixtures.?

My kitchen will have stainless appliances and brush nickle cabinet hardware and I would like to use bronze in the other rooms. The home has a open floor plan so you see the dining and living room and kitchen. I want to use a bronze light over the dining room table but I’m not sure if it would look O.K. since it is next to the kitchen. And can I use bronze on all the doors?

Our is designed the same, open floor.
We used copper and stainless for the kitchen, rubbed bronze in the dining room and since the patio door is there we tied in with rubbed bronze handles on the door as well as into the guest rooms.
I feel that tieing in the various room with color makes them distinctive and seperates them from one another.

I have exactly the same in my new home and it looks great. Bronzed, brushed nickel, black iron or platinum can all work together beautifully. I have stainless appliances, brushed nickel hardware in my kitchen with bronzed drops over my island and a bronzed light fixture over my breakfast table adjoining. The builder put brass handles, doorknobs and light fixtures everywhere else which we will change out to either bronze or brushed nickel. You can do the same and it will work just fine design wise. Though it is best to keep a similar look throughout the house, you can be flexible if you have the right eye for design. A shiny brass of course would not work as well but even that can be done if done right with the other fixtures.

Its your house, you can do whatever you like to do. Don’t listen to trends, most designers make things up as they go anyway.

You can use whatever you want, there’s no rules!
Just use what you think looks good, is within your price range.
Some people are very particular about having everything matching… me, I don’t give a damn!
I’d try to use reclaimed items rather than buy new…
