when i compare a footbll now with the ones i use to play with they are about half the weight,the mid ninties mitre premier league edition football(95 season i think) had about right in terms of weight and ability to shoot over distance-what do you think?

Balls around 50 years ago were made of hard leather and were very heavy. If that connected with someones face it would knock them out cold. I heard a few footballers getting injured from those balls hitting them in the chest, groin, face, etc…
At the moment the balls are just the right weight to shoot from long distances. Any heavier and it would be too heavy and would hurt players.

I don’t think it’s really an issue, as long as both teams are playing with the same ball. I haven’t been around long enough to have a personal preference in terms of which era had the best football, but I don’t see anything particuarly wrong with modern versions.

these softies of today wouldn’t be able to head the ball of years ago….they’d fall down crying holding their heads
and they would hurt their poor little feet if they had to kick it as well
