Is the red (track) light of an optical mouse eye safe?

I’m curious if the light emitted from the bottom of optical mice is safe or harmful to ocular tissue. What type of light is it? Thanx

The red light comes from a red LED (light emitting diode).

Most red LED mice reduce the intensity of their LED when they sense a loss of reflective surface, making it slightly safer.

It is no more or less harmful to ocular tissue than an extremely bright light, so yes it can be harmful if exposed for an excessive amount of time, but it’s not a LASER.
