My boyfriend and I are moving in together, which I am very excited about…however, we have *very* different styles of furniture from our two different apartments. Everything in my apartment is pastel, antique, and "shabby chic." I have a dark rose loveseat, an antique wood trunk I use as a coffee table, a pale green bookcase, and pale blue antique stand. He has all dark wood furniture, a modern glass coffeetable, and a tan/light brown couch. This is a small one bedroom apartment. Is there a way to make this all work? We want to keep both of our furniture, just "blended" somehow.

You might modernize your ’shabby chic’ by removing some of the knick-knacks, clearing spaces. Unifying color among the smaller pieces of furniture will modernize a bit, too. Anything you can do to ‘de-clutter’ will help bring the room closer to neutral. (Look at texture – ruffles, stacks of items, multiple fabrics, lots of colors — all add visual complexity).
The modern furniture can be softened by adding texture or color. Add a soft throw blanket (a solid color from the floral couch) diagonally over the modern couch — making it more welcoming.
