i have a one switch that controls the bathroom fan and light
theres a yellow wire and a black one
i want to take out the bathroom fan but i dont know which wire to take out?

shut off the power at the circuit breaker panel and try each one, you got a 50-50 chance of getting the right one on the first try. just make note of where it went….. i recommend you put either a wire nut or electrical tape on the wire you will not be using.
Chances are that it is the black wire that is for the light, and the yellow wire for the fan. Shut off the breaker, disconnect the yellow wire, put the fan back in and turn the circuit back on. If this is the wrong wire, turn off the circuit breaker, reconnect the yellow wire, disconnect the black wire, and put the fan back in. Make sure to insulate the wire that you are disconnecting as to prevent any short circuits, etc.
