vanity lighting help!?

Category : Vanity Lighting Fixtures

I just got my first vanity only a few months ago because I have really started to get into makeup and I simply love the look of a vanity.

I absolutely love the one i purchased but in order to do my makeup I need good lighting.
My vanity is up againts a wall with no lights around it (right now i have my night stand lamp on it so i can see) but I really need some sort of lighting fixture that isnt tacky or ugly.

My problem is that I do not have the option of putting a fixture in the wall permanently… I was wondering if there are lighting attachments that look like mounted ones but where there is a cord and it just hangs down so i could run it down the back of my vanity since there is a plug in right underneath on the wall.

this mirror is similar to the shape of the mirror on my vanity

So i was thinking I need 2 lights maybe to sit in the dips on each side of the mirror part..
BUT i still have no idea where i could find something i could do that with..

and what kind of lights should i use for a vanity? what lights will show true color best?

thank you so much!
i hope i get lots of helpful answers (:

I have an antique vanity also with a round mirror. I made a light for it and have 6 round vanity bulbs in it for lighting.
Get 2 of these and mount on both sides of the mirror on the wall. You may have to drill holes in the plate and use wall anchors to secure. Get a long 12′ white extension cord and cut a piece to reach between the 2 lights. strip the ends and wire nut the wire with a ribbed edge to the white wire and the other wire to the black wire on one fixture to the other fixture. Strip the ends of the leftover extension cord with the plug and attach it to the wires on the fixture closest to the outlet.
You can paint these to match the hardware on your vanity. Any spray paint for metal will do…just do several light coats.
These lights have on off swiches built in.
Any questions email me.

Put 2 of them up on the wall

As a makeup artist.. unless you are doing your makeup at night, i suggest using a window. You need natural lighting to truly see what you are doing. Most people put on foundations in their home, then step outside, and well you know who i am talking about. The people who just didnt do it right. Why? Because you need the natural outside lighting. If you do your makeup at night or dont have this option, then at least buy natural light lightbulbs… clearview… Yes you could buy two free standing light fixtures.
