we just got a plug in chandelier light fixture for our new nursery and I want to put it up, but the light fixture that is currently there is wired into the celing.
I want to convert the new plug in chandelier so it can just be wired as usual (like the one in place now). Can I just cut the plug cord and use the two wires to wire it up? How would I go about doing this? I know how to install ceiling fans and light fixtures, but I have not seen a fixture that plugs in. Can I just cut and go? Whats the procedure here?

you can cut off the plug and use the two wires to make your connections, but you will need a canopy and cross bar to mount it to the ceiling. you may be able to reuse the ones from the old fixture
Yep.. just cut and peel back the two strands. Usually the rough sided strand is neutral.
